Spain – Day 20 – Barcelona

Today we decided to take a little day trip, get out of the city and have a beach day. We hopped a train and 40 minutes later we arrived in Sitges, a beautiful little resort town just south of Barcelona. For €25 we had two lounge chairs, towels and an umbrella for a day of top quality relaxing. There are several beaches to choose from, and the father down you walk from the train station the emptier the beaches get.

The sand was incredibly soft and the water was the perfect temperature, not too cold to get into, but cool enough when the sun was too hot. It was the kind of water you could spend the day in, which is exactly what we did.

Each beach has a restaurant, bar and snack hut, so you don’t need to go far for sustenance. The close proximity to your beach chairs is also useful when you see how they seem to pour drinks here. Steve had a rum and coke, I ordered a gin and tonic.

They bring every thing out and make the drinks in front of you. Starting with rather large wine glasses they pour an obscene, and truly appreciated, amount of the alcohol of your choice and then top it off with a tiny splash of mixer.

Straight up, no mixers added.
