Italy – Day 12 – Cinque Terre

Sorry about the delay in posting, wifi is a little harder to find since we’re in an apartment without it. I’m alive and well however, and loving the little town of Levanto!

We woke up and got a late start since we were exhausted from our travels yesterday. First up exploring the apartment we have for the next week. It is modern and very space. Everything is white and there are absolutely no decorations. Everything looks brand new, so it could be that they are still working on the place. A picture on the wall or a vase of any color could really pull the white together.

It really is a great space, located about two blocks in from the center of town, it also has a great roof terrace. Along with the umbrella, table and lounge chairs, eye can see over the roofs below and out to the water.

Our time in Levanto is more about relaxing, than constant sightseeing, so we decided to keep the first day simple and stay in town. We wandered down the hill from our apartment and stumbled right into a wonderful little cafe, Cafe Brigida. With our morning coffee and pastry, it was the perfect place to people watch. This does not seem to be a touristy town, there are a lot of locals to be seen going about their day. If there are other tourists, they seem to be European and blend in nicely.

We wandered the streets a little and headed towards the beach where mom and I couldn’t resist heading straight across the sand to stick our toes in the water. From there we popped into the tourist information center to pick up a boat schedule, a train schedule and get some general info on exploring the towns of the Cinque Terre.

A siesta, another café and soon it was time for dinner. We found a really excellent place in a beautiful alley called Da Rino. The swordfish and caprese a salad were both delicious!
